It is used in biochemical studies. Transferrin is a protein that delivers iron ions. Transferrin can promote the proliferation of human lymphocytes. transferrin (transferrin, TRF, siderophilin) is the major iron-containing protein in plasma and is responsible for transporting iron absorbed by the digestive tract and released by red blood cells. It enters the bone marrow as a complex of TRF-Fe3+ and contributes to the generation of mature red blood cells.
