Fast green is an acid dye that is soluble in water (4% solubility) and alcohol (9% solubility). Fast green is a dye that dyes cellulosic cells and tissues containing plasmacysium. It is widely used in dyeing cells and plant tissues. It ranks with hematoxylin and safranin as the three most commonly used dyes in plant histology. Melting point 290 °C (dec.)(lit.)
