| Background | C2C12 cells are subclones of a mouse myoblast cell line established by D.Yaffe and O.Saxel.C2C12 cells differentiate rapidly, forming retractable muscle tubes and producing characteristic muscle proteins.Treatment of C2C12 cells with bone morphogenetic protein 2(BMP-2) led to a shift in the differentiation pathway of C2C12 cells from myoblast to osteoblast.Tests showed that C2C12 cells were negative for limb bone malformation virus (mouse pox). |
