ROX dyes all have strong red fluorescence，and their excitation and emission light wavelengths are longer than those of traditional rhodamine dyes. They are used as labeling dyes for peptides，proteins，and other biological ligands. 5-ROX，6-ROX，and their mixture，5(6)-ROX，label biomolecules under EDC-mediated coupling. Compared to other rhodamine dyes，ROX is unstable，and some measures should be taken to prevent it from degrading during storage.
