Product Introduction
Collagenase is an endopeptidase that digesters natural collagen in the triple helix region. Collagen is the main fibrous component of animal extracellular connective tissue. Bacterial collagenases differ from vertebrate collagenases in that they have a broader substrate specificity. Unlike animal collagenase, which divides collagen in a natural triple helix structure, bacterial collagenase is unique in that it can degrade both natural collagen, which is insoluble in water, and water-soluble denatured collagen. It can attack almost all types of collagen and is capable of making multiple cuts within the triple helix region
Application
Adipocytes, hepatocytes, and cells were isolated from lung, epithelial, and adrenal tissues
Separation of cardiomyocytes from bone, cartilage, muscle, thyroid and endothelial cells
Separation of mammary glands from various other soft tissues
Isolation of human and porcine islet cells
Tissue treated with crude collagenase, whose proteolytic activity is mixed, provides a gentle, selective digestive intercellular matrix with little damage or loss of viability to the cells
AFA collagenase is suitable for applications where the introduction of animal-derived pathogens into bioprocessing procedures needs to be avoided
Precautions
It is grown in a completely animal-free medium and is designed for bioprocessing applications where the introduction of pathogens of animal origin must be prevented.
