Product Introduction:
2,3,5-Triphenyltetrazolium chloride (TTC) is a fat-soluble photosensitive complex. It is a proton receptor for the pyridine-nucleoside structuring enzyme system in the respiratory chain and reacts with dehydrogenases in normal tissues to give a red color. Dehydrogenase in living cells of viable seed embryo tissues can reduce TTC to insoluble red stable triphenylmethylformazan (TTF), which fails to stain or stains lighter if the embryo seed is dead or if the embryo seed's viability declines. Therefore, the viability of the seed can be identified according to the staining site of the embryo seed and the degree of staining depth.
TTC staining solution (2%) is commonly used to detect seed viability and to detect ischemic infarction in mammalian tissues.
